Where to, Malaysia

As expected, Anwar Ibrahim won the Permatang Pauh by-election with an increased majority. Now, let's wait for September 16 to come, to see whether or not the so-called 30 BN MPs are going to jump ship to Pakatan Rakyat. The reason why I don't support Pakatan Rakyat is because of DAP and its fundamental policies. To me, Anwar Ibrahim is just one person. The only one that could bind the two extremes of DAP and PAS together. But, what will happen if Anwar is no longer around?? Pakatan Rakyat is merely a loose coalition which has no clear policy. Only DAP talks about CAT. PAS remains consistent to its cause for Islamic state. I doubt DAP can accept Tuan Guru Hadi Awang as Prime Minister. There is a somewhat symbiotic relationship between Anwar Ibrahim and DAP. Both need each other, whilst PAS is just there to make up the numbers, correct? Just take a look at Selangor.

Personally, I do not belief that there is a serious problem with the current political system. After all, it has been there for more than 50 years. The political system that we now have ensures peace among races and political stability of which many took it for granted or simply don't appreciate it. I know this sounds like a sentence from a textbook, but that was the reality. Of course, no system in this world is perfect, but from what I see now, the main problem lies with the weaknesses of the present leadership and its policies.

Malaysia under Abdullah Badawi is a country without any sense of direction. He has totally failed to continue Tun Dr Mahathir's vision for Malaysia. Pak Lah's reform agenda, openness and so on has seriously backfired the ruling party. What we are witnessing now is a nation which has never been so divided as now with all the religious and racial issues being sensationalised in mainstream papers and blogs etc.

I am sad that even after 51 years of independence and 39 years of the bloody 13 May racial riot, we are still discussing issues on race and religion. If this trend continues, there is no doubt that BN will lose big and be toppled in the next general election. To me, Pak Lah is just wasting his time in office until June 2010, provided he get re-elected as UMNO President in the upcoming UMNO party election. I cannot help but foresee a bleak future if Pak Lah continues as Prime Minister and worst off if PKR and DAP takes control of federal government. Sigh.

Read Tun Dr. Mahathir's brilliant piece of article in his Chedet.com blog.

Good night, Malaysia.

couldn't agree more. the only obvious reason DAP, PKR, PAS become allies is to defeat BN. beyond that, i don't see their personal agenda can even co-exist together. now that would be selfish and destroying the unity we have already had among races. they are no better than BN today anyway. with Pak Lah's attempt to please everybody rather than being a firm leader, it doesn't help BN much though.

on an ill-humored side note; if it's even true, and if it is going to happen, we're about to get ourselves a bisexual PM soon. how cool is that? hahaha.
