Politics Schmolitics: From Sabah to Perlis

SAPP No Confidence Vote and a by-election in Perlis.
What an interesting political week it has been. First was the bombshell of No Confidence motion announcement by Sabah Progressive Party led by former Sabah Chief Minister, Yong Teck Lee and then a possible by-election in northern state of Perlis, which the election court in Kangar declared the BN state seat of Sanglang is invalid, hence paving the way for a by-election to be held.

It is definitely not going to be an easy fight for Barisan. A heavy lose (I would be surprised if BN can pull out a win) in the by-election would further dampen BN-UMNO's popularity among the general public. The opposition will certainly have a lot of issues to raise in especially in the wake of the steep petrol hike, food prices and such.

On another different issue, in yet another salvo fired against his critics, Tun Dr. Mahathir, in his harshest attack on MIC President Samy Vellu in his blog, says that, "His [Samy] arrogance was unbearable. The defeat of the Malaysian Indian Congress (MIC) is entirely because of him." Everybody knows that. Only those people in MIC still couldn't accept the fact that Samy Vellu is no longer wanted by the Indian community and that he's becoming a huge liability to Barisan Nasional.

In the case of Samy Vellu's recent attack in calling Tun Dr. Mahathir a racist, I personally I feel it was a desperate act by a desperate political leader, which I feel does not worth a reply by Tun himself. I pity Tun actually, because at this age, as a national statesman, he seems to be left alone defending attacks against him from all corners.

Personally, I think, nobody actually thinks that the former premier is a racist. This whole stinking and hate-filled "Mahathir-Malay-racist" propaganda is actually just another media agenda being played out by Pak Lah's media advisers and those spineless NST editors (with all due respect to NST Group Editor, Dato' Syed Nadzri) to discredit him, in order to shut his mouth. This disgusting reporting by NST is just too much for me to take.
